The most common fans in everyday life and in production are axial fans. They are easily recognizable by their round casing and impeller. These devices are produced by all leading manufacturers of climate control technology.

Where are they used?

It is difficult to find a business, residential, commercial or office space that does not use axial fans. They are installed in the vast majority of ventilation and air conditioning systems, exhaust devices for kitchens and bathrooms. The scope of application is extremely wide:

  • Cooling systems for any type of computer;
  • Aircraft engines;
  • Turbines;
  • Drying chambers;
  • Water and air filtration systems;
  • Mines and adits.

How it works: device and principle of operation

Axial fan is also called "axial". The design of the device is simple and consists of several elements:

  • Electric motor;
  • Impeller (in a shell or cylindrical body);
  • Shaft (the impeller with the shaft is the rotor of the device);
  • Fairing (collector);
  • Blades (blades).

Principle of operation:

  • Power is supplied to the electric motor.
  • The shaft starts to rotate.
  • The movement of the blades creates a vortex of air with a pressure difference before and after the impeller.
  • There is a force directed along the rotor axis.
  • A targeted air flow is created. If the blades are bent back, the fan operates on its inflow in the direction of the front-rear panel (air is drawn from the room). If bent forward, a reverse flow is formed and air flows into the room.

Axial fans are mounted in three ways:

  • Wall and window;
  • Ceiling;
  • In the channel.

For wall and window mounting, a metal corner is required from which the frame is made. It is fixed in the right place in the most convenient way: on brackets, dowels, anchors or bolts.

For industrial premises, there is a requirement: to place fans at a height of at least 2 meters. The fan housing is installed in the frame and fixed.

Ceiling mounting is required when installing ventilation systems. The devices are installed in plasterboard, stretch and any suspended ceilings. Connect the fan outlet in the air duct connected to the ventilation shaft of the building.

Duct installation provides installation of the device in a confined space: duct. It is used for the installation of supply and exhaust ventilation systems.

The peculiarity of duct fans is the presence of an outlet in the form of an elongated duct. In this way, a targeted air flow is created in the desired direction.
